
Everglades National Park is located just over 80 kilometers southwest of Miami in Florida. This national park protects twenty percent of the original Everglades and habitat for many endangered species like American crocodiles, manatees, and Florida Panther. It is the largest tropical wilderness in America.
It is the third-largest national park in the United States. It is the most popular breeding ground for birds and it gives a good habitat for more than 280 species of birds. There are also many activities provided by this national park like boating, hiking, bird watching, etc.
Entrances and how to reach the Everglades National Park
Everglades National Park has three different entrances in three different cities and they are not interconnected. This national park is about 1,509,000 acres in Miami Dade County, Collier County, and Monroe County. You will have to take your car because there is no public transportation within the park.
Miami Entrance
- The Shark Valley Visitor Center is the entrance that is near to the Miami Area, Florida. From the Florida Turnpike, you will have to get off on exit 25A or exit 25 and take U.S. 41 which is about 25 miles west to Shark Valley. And take U.S. 41 which is approximately 70 miles east of Shark Valley.

Homestead Entrance
- The main entrance for Everglades National Park is the Homestead entrance. The Ernest F. Coe Visitor Center is located in the Homestead entrance, as well as in Flamingo and Royal Palm.
- You will have to take the Florida Turnpike route until it ends and connect with U.S. 1 at Florida City. Then you will have to turn right at the first traffic light onto Palm Drive and follow the signs to the park. People who drive north from the Florida Keys on U.S.1 will have to turn left on Palm Drive in Florida City and you will have to follow the signs to the park.

Everglades City Entrance
- The Gulf Coast Visitor Center is the entrance that is close to Naples which is in Florida.
- You will have to take exit 80, turn south and move for about 20 miles to Everglades City. Once you reach the Everglades City, you will have to follow the signs to the park. The Gulf Coast Visitor Center is on the right side.
- You will have to drive west on U.S. 41 for about 40 miles and then have to turn left on State Road 29. Once you reach Everglades City, you will have to follow the signs to the park. The Gulf Coast Visitor Center is on the right side.
- You will have to take U.S. 41 east toward Miami for about 35 miles to State Road 29 and then you will have to turn right. Once you reach Everglades City, you will have to follow the signs to the park. The Gulf Coast Visitor Center is on the right side.

Flamingo Visitor Center
- The Flamingo Visitor Center is the southernmost visitor center located in the Everglades National Park. It is located at the end of the main road of the park and is accessible from the main park entrance. You will have to drive south for about 38 miles to reach the Flamingo Visitor Center
