An American national park in International Falls, Minnesota, Voyageurs National Park was founded in 1975 and is located in the northern part of the state. The name of the park is a nod to the area’s earliest European immigrants, the French-Canadian fur merchants known as voyageurs. Water sports enthusiasts go to the area, including kayakers, canoeists, and fishers. To reach Kabetogama Peninsula, which is a large piece of land inside the park, you must take a boat. The Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness sits east of the park.
The park’s perimeter is home to several boat ramps and tourist facilities, but the park’s core can only be reached by boat or by snowmobile, ski, or snowshoe in the winter. The park had 239,656 visitors last year.

Minnesota’s Voyageurs National Park is situated in the north. The Border Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, which shares the park’s northern boundary with Canada, is close to the west. In order to properly enjoy the park, visitors must leave their cars at home and take a boat to the park’s visitor centers.
