New River Gorge National Park

New River Gorge National Park was established in 1978 and it was redesignated as New River National Park and Preserve in the year 2021. The park is about 70,000 acres of land that comes along with the New River from the Bluestone Dam to Hawk’s Nest Lake. The New River is actually the oldest river on earth where a whitewater river flows northward via deep and spectacular canyons. Looking at southern West Virginia, the New River was engraved and it continues to do so in the deepest and longest river gorge which is in the Appalachian Mountains.
