Places to Visit in New River Gorge National Park

 New River Gorge National Park is the perfect destination for adventure seekers. The park offers plenty of activities like rafting, kayaking, hiking, rock climbing, fishing, and biking. Sandstone Falls

Sandstone Falls is the largest waterfall on the New River, the falls spans the river where it is 1500 feet wide. Sandstone Falls is an amazing falls on the New River. If you like to swim, the falls on the west side of the river is a swimming spot that has calm pools at the bottom of multiple small waterfalls. Be aware of the fishing hooks as this spot is utilized for fishing. Avoid swimming in higher water flow will make swimming here dangerous

There is a short boardwalk from the parking lot to the falls. This trail offers views of the main falls. The boardwalk is a 0.8 kilometer moderately trafficked trail located near Sandstone, West Virginia. The trail is primarily used for walking and nature trips and is suitable for all levels of hikers. You can also explore off of the boardwalk on a few trails and around on the rocks for a closer view of the river.  

New River Gorge Bridge

The New River Gorge Bridge is a steel arch bridge 3,030 feet long over the New River Gorge. Is one of the continent’s oldest rivers. It is the most photographed area in the park. You can not only watch the view of the bridge but also walk through the bridge. It gives you a unique experience and some breathtaking views. It also offers many other activities like you can paddle under the bridge on a boat, drive across by car, or even a guided tour across the catwalk.

This massive bridge stands 876 feet above the river. There are also several lookout spots in the area. The perfect time to visit New River Gorge Bridge is during the sunset or sunrise.The most popular way to explore is by kayaking along the river, which offers you an adventurous experience. 

Canyon Rim Overlook Boardwalk

Canyon Rim Overlook Boardwalk is a 1.0 kilometer trail that features a river. The trail is easy to hike and suitable for all levels of hikers. It is one of the best spots in the park for bird watching. Dogs are also able to use this trail but you need to be careful.

You can begin your hike along Canyon Rim Overlook Boardwalk, park your car at the Canyon Rim Visitor Center. It is one of the shortest trails in New River Gorge that offers some amazing views. It takes about 45 minutes to complete the trail. 

Endless Wall Trail

The Endless Wall Trail is a 3.7 kilometer point-to-point trail. The trail passes through rich forest, crosses Fern Creek, then along the cliff edge. The trail is suitable for all levels of hikers.  The trail is primarily used for hiking, rock climbing, and nature trips. Endless Wall Trail is the perfect place to get away from crowds and enjoy the breathtaking views. 

The Endless Wall Trail is the most impressive area of the park. From hiking through the ancient Hemlock forest to the stunning views from top the cliffs. The trail provides everything that makes it a special place.
